POST OFFICE SAVINGS BANK INTEREST.

Usually the Post Office Savings Bank year closed 31st December. It will cose this year and henceforward on 31st March. Depositors will therefore receive interest for 15 months for 1020-21. Under provisions of Section 2 of the Post and Telegraph Amendment Act, 1020, interest will be paid to depositors at the rate of 4 per cent, (formerly 3per cent.) on deposits of any amount up to £SOO (formerly up to £3OO only), from Ist January last; also the interest will he 3.} per cent, and will be payable on amounts exceeding £SOO and not exceeding £5,000. Formerly £I,OOO was the limit of interest-bearing deposits. In tlic ease of deposits exceeding £5,000, the rates of interest above mentioned will apply only to so much of the balance of such accounts as does not exceed £5,000.
