CRICKET.
A team from Foxton, skipped by 11. J. Claris, journeyed to Levin yesterday afternoon, and tried conclusions with a local eleven. After a very pleasant game, Levin were victorious, the scores Hj|g Levin 105, Foxton 90. The were in very good order for lhgb scoring, and numerous boundaries were registered throughout the game. For Foxton, Francis topped Flic score with 27, hitting out freely at good bowling by Eggleton and Clark; W. G. Nye secured 14, and F. Bowe was next best with 12 to his credit. A feature of the game was some smart catching by Clark, who was responsible for disposing of F. Bowe and Cummerfield from almost impossible chances. For Foxton, Reeve bowled well, taking four wickets; Hirini was also very reliable, securing three, and was applauded for a tricky bit of work in scattering Eggleton’s bails after be had seemingly collared the bowling. For Levin, Eggleton reached top score at 22, with Clnridge and Clark next at 15 each. Eggleton, Farland, Clark, 'Williams and Iveys were tjie Levin bowlers. As Foxlon’s wicket-keeper. It is probable that Levin will visit Eoxton shortly to play another match. A practice strike will he held ou Victoria Park pitch this evening, commencing at 5 o’clock. On Saturday next it is intended to arrange a match amongst local players, on the Victoria Park pitejj*. teams to be drawn from those sent. All cricketers available to play on that day are requested to he on the grounds promptly, and intending cricketers are also requested to attend. It is probable that a match will be arranged with a V hitanui team shortly for Saturday play, and it is therefore necessary to ascertain the names of those a- 1 vuilable for that day.
