RIFLE SHOOTING.

Last Saturday, on the local range, Foxton’s team fired in the district competition for the Field 'Shield, in the presence of two scrutineers from the Levin Club, The shooting, which was seven shots each at 200, 500 and 600 yards, commenced at 11.45 a.m. The day was fine and bright, with a slight breeze in the morning. Later on, however, the wind increased to a gusty westerly, which proved very disconcerting at the two long ranges.. The two best totals were made by Rfni. J. Hartley and S. Head, 86 each. The remaining totals were: A. Barnard 84, 11. McKegncy 82, If. Graham 82, C. Barnard 80, C. Rand 79, .7. Rider 76; grand total, 655 points. It appears that the Cup was won by the Levin Club. The following grand totals are believed to be correct:—Levin 727 points, Paraparaumu 692 points, Haul ere 659 points, Foxton 655 points. Foxton will be represented at the D.R.A. meeting at Trentham, opening on 3rd March, by Messrs S. Head, 11. Frankland, 11. Hamer, 11. Graham, and possibly J. Hartley. The first two will also attend the Wairarapa meeting at Greytown on February 26tb» * Trophy shoffing will be suspended during the absence of the above members.
