ROYAL PICTURES.

One of the best of William Russell productions is “New York Luck,” to be screened to-morrow and Thursday evenings. An amusing theme has - been used as the basic idea of the picture, and while the most interesting part of it is contained in an imaginary continuation of the real story by the hero in a letter written home during his New York sojourn, the production as a whole has quite a strong appeal in a comedy way. The story treats of the fulfilment of the desire of a country youth to come to New York —a city of dreams and realised ambitions. After a series of disappointments, his imagination leads him to tell a wonderful tale of how he found his way to the home of a beautiful girl, whose purse he had picked up in his home town. Later there arrives on the scene a moving picture director from the youth’s home town. After reading the letter picturing acts of wonderful prowess, the director teils the youth that if he can turn out stories of that calibre he will give him a steady position. The actual meeting of the youth and the girl, who is a moving picture actress, takes place later, and is quite amusing. As an extra, “The Vanishing Dagger” will he shown.
