On Saturday ! afternoon a from Ihe local Club visited Terrace End and played a team from that Club. The result was a win for the home team by 11 points. The teams and scores were as follows Fleming D. Whibley Poole Roore Rumble F. Whibley Davidson (s) 21 Nye (s) W A very close and interesting for the Nye Ferns was played on the local green yesterday evening, the challengers winning by one point. By arrangement an 18 head game was played, and the scoring throughout was small, only 21 (joints being scored altogether. On flic seventeenth head the two nearest bowls (one belonging to each side) could not be separated, and no score resulted on that head. On the final end the holders required two to tie, and were two up when the skips went down, but short wing bowls made it very difficult to draw in. Hawke, with his last bowl, pushed one of his own side’s timber in, making it second shot. Mhibley tried to kill the head, but missed, and the game ended with the holder-
one down. The teams and scores were: — Christie Smith Fume Roore Mandl Mercer Hawke (s) 11 F. Whibley (s) 10 The Manawatu Centre has arranged a visit to the Terrace End green to-morrow, and Foxton has been invited to send two rinks. Players wishing to make the trip should notify the secretary, so that the necessary'arrangements can be made.
On Wednesday of next week local bowlers will pay a visit to Shannon and Levin. All’ players who intend making either of these trips should pul their names on the board at the green without delay.
The Dixon Cup, which has been held by a Palmerston rink (Seifert, Welch,” J. A. Nash, N. H. Nash) for some time, changed hands on Saturday, when a challenging rink from Feilding comprised of Miles, Clapham, Bartholomew, Chappell (s), defeated the holders by 23 points to 19. s
In a match for the Manson and Barr Cap on Saturday, the holders, Jolly’s Palmerston rink, defeated a challenging rink from Terrace End, skipped by Rankin, by 25 point? 23.
Two rinks from the Palmerston Club, skipped by Needham and Trott respectively, challenged two rinks from the Feilding Club for the Ainslee Shield. The matches were played on the Feilding green on urday. Palmerston North won .no shield, the scores being yes —Needham 32, Feilding 10; Trott 19, Feilding 10. *
At the Rotorua tourney, conduded on Saturday, 55 rinks competed. Bell’s (Hamilton) rink won the final, defeating Forest (Mhakatane) by 20 to 19.
