MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS.
IN a few weeks’ time the biennial election of Mayor and Councillors will take place. Wo do not know v. licit her it is the intention of the present Mayor and Councillors to again offer their services for a further period, but in view of the carrying out of the water and drainage scheme we question the wisdom of (•hanging I lie learn. So far as the Mayor is concerned he has discharged his duties conscientiously, and luis given the loan proposals very careful si tidy, and unless his position is tilled by an experienced Councillor it would be a questionable experiment, to elecl an outsider lo the civic chair. We hope, however, that Mr Chrystall will consent to hold cilice until he has completed the water and drainage scheme iniliated by the present Council.
