UNJUSTIFIABLE APPEAL.
An appeal sent out from the Irish Agricultural Organisation Society; Dublin, for moral and financial support from the dairy companies of New Zealand, seems to be a Sinn Fein' movement to gather in funds for its own purpose. The New Zealand Government cabled to the Imperial authorities for information on the subject, and the reply received slates that “The appeal made by the Irish Agricultural Organisation Society, Dublin, to co-operative dairy companies in New Zealand for moral and financial support is calculated to hinder the British Government in its fixed determination to stamp out murder, and is wholly superfluous and uncalled for. Some of the creamery managers, however, are Sinn Feiners, and some creameries have been used as rendezvous of the Irish Republican army. Owners of creameries which have been maliciously destroyed or damaged min, and do, apply for compensation to County Courts, and these Courts assess damage, which is then payable from local rates. The total number of co-operative creameries in Ireland is 710, but of this number only 19 have been destroyed and 24 damaged, seven of which are now believed to be again carrying on business.”
