ft-will probably be three or four day.- before the Prime Minister is able to make a definite announcement concerning the proposals made for the settlement of the coal-min-ing dispute. The Miners’ Federation is now placing the proposal before the various unions, and, until the whole of the replies, are received, it cannot be said whether the board suggested will be acceptable to both parties. Grevmouth, Feb. 1.
At a largely-attended meeting of the State coal mines at Rewanui on Monday evening, a telegram from the federation secretary (Mr Arbuckle) respecting the proposed board to adjudicate in the dispute, was read and considered, Finally, by a majority of over two to one, the meeting resolved that the board proposal was not acceptable, and that the miners adhere to their previous decision until such time as Henderson is reinstated at Blackball.
