BEAUTIFYING SOCIETY’S GALA.
A meeting of the Carnival Queen Committee was held last night. A Moorhouse was voted to the Apologies for absence were received from several members. Mr Whibley was asked to act, in the absence of Mr Petrie, as nominator of the Fibre Queen candidate. It was decided that queen candidate nominators form committees and take all steps necessary to further their queen’s candidature. It was decided to write Mr Scott (Levin), and ask if he will consent to act ns organiser for the Carnival, and on what terms, and that it be a recommendation from this committee to the Beautifying Society that the services of Mr Scott be secured to supervise the whole Gala and Queen Carnival. It was resolved that the committees be given one article each to lie raffled.
The ladies on the Queen Carnival Committee were authorised io go into the matter of dresses for the queen, and l’cporl at the next meeting. It was decided that voting tickets be 3d each, and that coupons he printed in distinct colours, and that the number of votes he calculated on t lie nett profit.
Mr Reid he asked to screen once a week photos, of each candidate and progress of voting. Airs McMurray’s resignation from the Queen Carnival Committee was accepted, and Mrs Trueman voted to her place on the Committee. Decided to call a meeting of all committees on Tuesday, Bth February, at 7.30 p.m. The sympathy of the Committee was extended to Miss No will in her illness and the hope expressed that she will have a speedy recovery.
