BOWLING
The first of this year’s Triangular Shield matches between the Shannon, Foxton and Levin Clubs was played on the Shannon green yesterday afternoon. The weather conditions were perfect, and the oreen was in splendid order, playing true and very fast. The Shannon players were in good form, winning three out of the four matches played, and putting up an aggregate of 92 points. Levin scored 39 points, and Foxton 30. The visitors were entertained at afternoon tea by the Home club. The following are the details of the play : Shanonnr' Fflxton. Spencer 'M in Loss Beard ' Walker Can- F. F.Y kc Fargher (s) 18 Pollock (s) 21 The next match will be played at Foxton on Wednesday afternoon next, when two rinks each from Levin and Shannon will play four Foxton rinks.
A match for the Pennants was played on Tuesday afternoon, when the holders, Smith and Roore, defeated the challengers, Stevenson and D. Whibley, by 32 points to 18. In a match for the Nye Ferns yesterday afternoon, the holders, for whom D. Whibley and Christie played as substitutes for F. Whibley and Roore, defeated a challenging team!- —Parkin, Spring, Mandl, Bryant (s) —by 34 points to 8.
