PALMERSTON’S MAYOR

MR. d. A. NASH,-Mayor of Palmerston during the past thirteen years, has publicly stated that he intends to relinquish the civic clmir this year. During Mr Nash’s term of office Palmerston has gone ahoad by leaps and bounds, and its progress is in a large measure due to the enterprise and enthusiasm of its irrepressible chief citizen. He has reached objectives which would have broken the courage of many public-spirited citizens, and has set an example in citizenship second to none. He has advocated and carried through public works in face of strong opposition and personal abuse, with the result that Palmerston has been brought to the forefront as the leading provincial town in the Dominion. His faith in the future prosperity of Palmerston and district has never wavered, and Palmerston to-day is his debtor. It is a pleasure to pay a tribute to a public man who does things for the public good, and his efforts on behalf of Palmerston has been reflected in the progress of the surrounding district. We sincerely hope that Air Nash will be spared to continue his public spirited activities in a wider sphere.
