Manawatu Herald THURSPAY, JANUARY 27, 1921. BEACH ROAD.

SOMETHING- should be done to improve the rosid upproueh to (he river foreshore at the local seaside. Vehicles have to plough through about two chains oi‘ drift sand, and negotiate a sharp turn, which has been the scene of several narrow escapes from collision between ears and pedestrians. So far nothing serious has happened, but an accident sooner

or later will be inevitable, unless steps * are taken to improve

the danger spot. The road should he continued in a direct line to the river foreshore, and the cutting fascined. It should not be a difficult matter to prevent the sand drifting at the locality by the erection of fence guards. Another danger spot is the turning at the “bluegum bend,” where the road requires to be widened. We hopp the Beach Committee will confer with the Alanawatu County on this subject, with a view to immediate action.
