GOATSRUE
In a letter from the Department of Agriculture to the Oroua County Council at its last meeting, the usual reference was made to the benefit of prevention over cure in regard to the weed known as goatsrue.' Cr. Vincent had informed the Council that this weed was spreading along the bed of the Manawatu River near Ashhurst. The Department’s Superintendent .recommended the Council to place the weed on the Third Schedule, Members of the Council did not see much of an advantage in placing the weed on the Third Schedule, which meant, as one'councillor put it, that “the matter would he kept steadily in view.” eventually decided to place the weed on the schedule recommended, in the meantime.
