CAR DASHES OVER A CLIFF.
MOTORISTS' LUCKY ESCAPE,
Auckland, Jan. IS. A miraculous escape from serious injury took place yesterday forenoon, when a party of Aucklanders, motoring from Cornwallis lo New Lynn, was thrown over a cliff. The car was being driven by I lie owner. Mr Arthur Thole, of Thole Bros,, who bad been holidaying at Cornwallis. and was returning home. Shortly after selling out the vehicle gol mil of control, and before anything could be done it dashed over a high cliff af the side of the road. The car turned three somersaults before crushing to the ground below. Mr Thole and his two companions, Mr Frank Needham
end Mr Hunter, were hurled into the air, fortunately alt of: thorn falling (dear of the motor car, which was wrecked. None of the occupants bad any bones broken, but all were badly bruised, and suffered from shock. They were brought to Auckland later in the day.
