FOXTON AND FEILDING FOLKS
.Dwellers in (he cities look forward eagerly towards a vacation in Ihe country- —far from the maddening crowd —whore the verandahs are deep, where the paddocks are wide, and where 1 here is no asphalt. Their country cmlsins yearn the vear round for the crowded cities, the electric lights, the smooth pavements, and the sighs and sight- of the surf. Many Feilding folks yearn for the sea, and not a few have materialised their yearnings into whares or cottages at Pliinmerton or Rangitikei Beach, or foxton. In \iev of the convenience of situation and Ihe growing colony of Feildingitcs there,-the following timely item from the Foxton “Herald” will be appreciated over hero: “If the Foxton Beach continues to attract ever increasing numbers during the holiday season, something will have to be done to provide better.means of locomotion between the railway and the seaside, a distance of about three miles. Many families from Feilding and Palmerston would gladly spend the day al this popular seaside resort, but the extra expense in getting there from Foxlon is the drawback. Perhaps the Beach Committee could submit the request for an extension of the railway from Foxton to the seaside lo the authorities. Failing this, the Alanawalu County Council might consider the question.’’ And whilst the AI.C.C. is considering this suggestion, what about running a light line of railway to connect Feilding with Sanson, and then extending the line at the other end right along to Foxton Beach —Feilding Star.
