STATUTORY HALF-HOLIDAY.

WEDNESDAY FIXED. A special meeting of (he local Borough Council was held last night to fix the statutory half-holiday. On the motion of the Mayor, seconded by Cr. Coley. Wednesday was the day fixed. Cr Bryant said he would oppose the motion in favour of Saturday. He said there was a growing feeling in favour of Saturday. Mr AY. D. Bauekham, president of the Retailers’ Association, was in attendance, and stated that it was the desire of his Association that the Council retain Wednesday. The motion was carried, Cr. Brya lit being the only dissentient.
