MOTOR ACCIDENTS.

CAR GOES OVER HILL. ' A motor accident, luckily without loss of life, took place, on Paekakariki Hill on Monday afternoon. Mr and Mrs Downes, of Wellington, with Mr C. Whittic\, were returning to the city in their ear, and on the ascent of the hill, about half-way up. a rear tyre blew off, with (he result that the car skidded ami went over (he side of the road. Mr Whiltick was able to jump clear, but Mr Downes, who' was .driving, and Mrs Downes, were both injured us the ear turned and rolled over several times. Both were cut- and bruised severely, and were taken to Wellington by another ear. The ear itself was much damaged, and lies at present a considerable distance below, the road down .the hill. The occupants were' lucky in escaping without, worse consequences. Earlier in the-day in the same locality a large motor car, proceeding northwards, overtook and collided with a smaller car, capsizing it. The driver of the -smaller car received* several cuts. His car was somewhat knocked about, and bad to be towed to the city.
