MOTORING.
—vThere is nothing moredflightfi.il !yThan a rush through the open air per, on an early ■ morning 'I'MSaiSSLg,. tlV^ll mo of the VCar, along our -tarfei'ial roads. One feels on such occasion that life" is worth living. Unfortunately it is not given to every one to indulge in such an. outing. Would that it whs. Our representative went through to the Lower Wairarapa one morning refeiiily. The arterial road through the Manawatu and Kairanga Counties are in good order. The Alana- ' watu. Gorge is .now quite safe and clear’ of slips. Between Bahialua and Eketalmna, the road is very ' rally in parts. There three roads to select from between Eketahuna and Maurieevilie—the old coach road along the hill side, a diversion of this inrjiing to (he left at the cemetery called the "Boren road, and one which goes along the flat- to the west of the hills. All ■ these roads arc in fair order. The limestone road through Mauricoyille is very trying to the eyes in bright sunlight, and is well-potted. There is a fine stretch of excellent road 'from Kopuaranga to Masterton,’and on to Waingawa. From the Tara la hi plains to Carterton it is impossible to dodge the rnjs for several mile,s. From Carterton lo Greytown the going is good, hnl after ■leaving Grcytown en route to Tanherenikan the road is execrable, yet hereabouts are millions wf (ons of 1 metal! The most excellent rood of nil is between Feirtlieiston and Martinborongh probably (he finest length of macadam road in New Zealand.- There is nothing lo fear ■with careful driving on any of the
lull-; thrpughout the run. Of cQiuse, '•there are some sharp curves, but plenty of room for manoeuvring’ the car. - Comparatively speaking, the arterial roads , in the Rangitikei, jVlanawatu. TJovowhenua and Kairunga Counties are in better order than throughout the southern end 1 of the province.
