The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated 11th instant, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London: —
Meat. —English, trade slow hut
good lone; Mippiies of beef and mulion are heavier. Average prices are; Beef Is 4LI, mutton 1- fid, lamb 2s per lb. Imported, satisfac-
tory trade. Butter. —With increased Government ration demand tor tree butter is considerably smaller. Irish, market very unsettled; best made £2l per cwt (3s fid per lb.) in London this week, while in Liverpool best freely offered at £lB 15s to £2O per cwt. (3s -Id to 3s (rfd per lb.), but very Utile sold. Cusalled quoted at £22 10s per cwt. (4s per Jb.). Engli-h, cheaper in few markets, but average price first quality has slightly advanced to £24 14s per cwl. (4s 5d per Hi.). Danish production keeps up well, exiu.il being ehieily to Great Britain. Cheese.—-Market is quiet hut betid- tone for English: finest farmers' £7 5s to £9 Os per cwt. (Is Bid to Is 8d per lb.). Imported very slow : Canadian; white, £7 8s to £7 12s per cwt. (Is 33d to Is 4.1 d per lb.); coloured, £7 14s to £8 per cwt. (Is
did to fs 5d per lb.). Wool Sales. —Buyers arc still opertaing (Tom hand to mouth. At free sales yesterday Australian greasy merinos were represented, and good clearance effected, ladders meeting market at prices fully ten per cent, below Government limit.
