Mr William Lambert, aged 73, died suddenly in St. David’s Presbyterian Church on Sunday morning, He unvcield a roll of honour dur-

ing the service, saying a few words to the congregation, and returned to his seal while the hymn, “Now the Labourer's Task is O’er” was being

sung. On silting down he fell for-

ward and was carried into the vestibule, where he expired soon after. He had been under medical treatment for heart trouble. Taumaruuui, Dec. (i. Mary Thorpe, aged 15 years, the

only daughter of Mr H. Thorpe, of

the Public Works Department, was drowned yesterday while bathing in

the Ongarue river, near Taumarunui. Stic was evidently seized with c-ramp or heart failure, and suddenly sank in deep water while swimming beside another girl, who was grabbed and pulled under, but got

free ami .scrambled ashore. A number of bathers were present, and after a search of ten minutes the body was located and recovered. Artificial respiration was Ivied for an hour and a quarter without success. Deceased had previously complained of cramp. Te Kuili, Dee. 0. An accident having a fatal termination occurred on Saturday night Hungatiki railway station. It is asEdward Cuthbert Chare was found clead .some ten chains from the Hangatiri railway station. It is assumed that deceased was struck by a passing goods train when he was crossing the line at the scene of the accident. Deceased sustained a broken back and other injuries. At the inquest, Mr Burton, S.M., found that deceased died from injuries received through being struck by a train, no blame being attachable to anyone. Gisborne, Dee. (>. Andrew Cuthbert, a well-known resident, had a heart seizure whilst harnessing a horse, and died shortly afterwards.
