When the Arbitration Court met to-day, Mr Pryor, on of lit;'. employers, suggested that the Court ' should give judgment on the. main bonus issue before dealing with the individual applications of unions. Mr Keardon agreed, but said the unions now believed they had discovered the cause of the division of opinion. The position was tha,t the original period selected as a. basis of computation for the increase 111 _J the cost of living included the epide- W mic period, when prices rose excessively high. That meant that the workers did not get a proper allowance for the real increase in costs. Mr Justice Stringer agreed to put this view before the Statistician. It was generally agreed that it was desirable to announce the main judgment before dealing with individual claims,
