TICKETS FOR RAFFLES.
THEIR KALE BY CHILDREN,
Complaints have been made from lime time (says the Wellington Post) of (he practice of allowing children to wander about the streets selling tickets for raffles, and representations have been made that a slop should be put to it. The Minister for Internal Affairs has had enquiries made, and has obtained reports from several Departments, including that of the Commissioner of Police.
These indicate, states the Alinistor (the lion. G. J. Anderson) that something should lie done to stop the practice. He intends to make provision, in the regulations under which raffles are to be held in future, that no boy under fourteen years of age, or no girl under sixteen years, shall be allowed to sell or otter for sale tickets in any street, hotel, shop, office, factory, boardinghouse, place of entertainment, or at/ any gathering of the public in any public’ These restrictions will not apply to any boy or girl residing in a hotel, boardinghouse, etc., in respect to the sale of tickets in such places.
