SUNDAY SCHOOL ANNiVERSA RY.

The anniversary services in conned ion with the Methodist Sunday School were held in the local .Methodist Church on Sunday. The interior of the church was nicely decorated with flowers, and the children. together with the teachers and choir, were arranged on a platform in, front and at the side of the pulpit. There were good congrega I ions at all Hit' sendees, Mr Vivian, of Palmerston X., conducted tho morning service, Hr Crawford, of Levin, in the unavoidable absence of the Rev. Bowden Harris, took I lie afternoon sendee, and live K’cv. Air ll;irrfing the evening sendee. The latter spoke from the text : “What manner of child shall this be " The preachr er stressed the necessity for a sound spiritual training of the young, and the necessity Cor the fa mil v altar and family worship. He concluded by warning parents and guardians that Cod would hold (hem answerable for neglect in Ibis connection. The singing by the children was a special feature of the sendees, and in this connection special praise is due to Mr R. T. Betty, who was responsible .for the training and conducting. The voices blended with line effect, and in keeping with the high standard of previous years. The choir assisted the children, and the singing was accompanied by an orchestra consisting of organ (Mr Thornber), flute (Mr Moorman), ’cello (Mr H. Osborne), and violins, Mesdames Kennerly and Chalk and Mr Kennerly. To-morrow night, in the Masonic

Hall, the annual prize-giving will lake place, and a programme will he submitted by the scholars, including several of the anniversary hymns. Refreshments will be provided. Admission will be, adults Is, children half-price.
