SUPREME COURT.
Xapier, Xovemb. 23. The Grand -liny reduced the charge against Phoebe Cattanacli of murder of an illegitimate infant lo one of manslaughter. The common jury returned a verdict of not guilly. The same accused pleaded guilty to u charge of concealing the birth of an illegitimate child, and sentence was deferred. Invercargill, Xov. 23. At the Supreme Court, John Sage and George Sago, brothers, were charged with breaking and entering and theft. The former pleaded guilty, and George Sage not guilty. After a lengthy hearing, the jury found George Sage guilty, and each of the prisoners was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment. Blenheim, Xov. 23. Reginald William Fisher, who pleaded guilty in the Lower Court to a charge'of converting to his own use £94 13s" 2d, received on behalf of the Awatere County Council, he being employed by the council as clerk and engineer, came up for sentence before Mr Justice Husking in the Supreme Court. He was admitted to probation for two years, on condition that he took out a prohibition order and paid the expenses of the prosecution,
