A resolution from the Foxton Chamber of Commerce urged the Association of New Zealand Chambers of Commerce to favourably consider the “Levin-Marlon railway deviation” proposal, and to enter a most emphatic protest against the comparatively non-pvodnetive expenditure of public* money on the proposed Palmerston North deviation, which would necessitate the removal of three stations —viz., Longburn, Palmerston North, stud Terrace End —also about live miles of permanent way. The motion is not to he considered by the New,Zealand chamber, on the ground that the subject is a local matter, and therefore not in the'scope of the conference.
