CORRESPONDENCE.
(To lho Editor.) Sir. —(May I be permitted to compliment the Vicar of All Saints’ for his outspoken references to the gambling evil, as set forth in your last issue, I quite agree with him that the gambling spirit is defiling sport, and, sad to relate, has been permitted to play a part in assisting the finances of branches of the Christian church. The private life and business methods of individuals is a matter for the dictates of conscience, but- true Christianity cannot make compromise with that which may foster immorality dr degradation, neither can it accept gifts from any such source. The vicar’s text on Sunday night: should be deeply pondered by all church-goers, for the “sticking"’ would result in opening vistas of a higher life that would counteract the machinations of 'the evil one who at times parades in the cloak of Christianity. Thanking you in anticipation. —I am, etc., INTERESTED.
