FUNERALS OK THE VICTIMS.

New Plymouth, Nov. 14,

Two of the largest funerals remembered in. New Plymouth took place this afternoon, when Captain Richard Russell, D.F.C., Croix de Guerre, and Air James Clarke, Alayor of New Plymouth, two of the victims of Thursday’s flying tragedy, were buried at Te Henui Cemetery. The third victim, Miss Kathleen Warnock, was buried privately yesterday morning.

From all parts of the province prominent people came, and there were many friends from distant parts of the Dominion. The funeral of Captain Russell was first, followed at a brief interval hy (hat of Mr Clark. Captain Russell’s funeral was a military one, and was attended by the largest gathering of returned soldiers seen in Taranaki, while the Citizens’ Band and all the local military units Avere included. Behind this imposing cortege followed a large number of citizens unknown to the dead airman, but, like the Avhole community regarding his death as deeply personal. AH' Clark’s funeral wits a civic one, and was a very long cortege. The graves Avere situated on the top of a hill in a beautiful part of the cemetery, ami there was a joint burial service. At the conclusion the soldiers fired volleys, and the “Lust Post” was sounded.
