SCALDED TO DEATH

’A child named Alien Keith Beard, aged three years and seven monthSj was accidentally scalded to death at Shannon on Thursday. The child, it appears, - was amusing himself in the kitchen, when he stumbled' against the stove, capsizing a pot of boiling water in his fall. Medical aid was called in, blit the 1 child succumbed to his injuries.

A SHOWMAN'S DEATH

A man named Joseph Norman, aged 59, died suddenly on the ferry si earner Maori shortly before her arrival at Lyttelton this morning. Deceased, who was a travelling showman, was. travelling with his wife and son to the Christchurch Show. His home is in W •and he had been under medical aUtontion for heart disease.

BODY POUND IN AN OUTHOUSE.

Napier, Nov. 6.

The body of a newly-born infant wa.-’ found in an outhouse at Menace yesterday. An inquest was opened at Napier this afternoon, when a constable, in formal evidence, slated that a girl named Phoebe Cattanach admitted that she was the mother of the child. The inquest was then adjourned till Tuesday.

KILLED BY TRACTION ENGINE

Dunedin, Nov. 7.

Frank Annis, aged 51, residing at lien lev, was admitted to the hospital late on Saturday night suffering from a fracture of the left thigh. Ho fell from a bicycle' in front of the wheels of a traction engine, one wheel going over both legs. He died at 0 o’clock this" morning.

FALL OFF A TRAIN.

MAX’S SKULL FRACTURED,

A. man named Henry Tomey, aged •_><) vears, single, residing at Newtown, Wellington, fell off a train between Thermion and Johnsonvillo on Saturday night, and fractured the base of his skull. He was admitted to the hospital at D. 30 p.m. on Saturday. On Sunday night Tomey was reported to he doing fairly well, having regained consciousness. He is employed as a brickmaker at the Miramar gasworks.
