NIGHT LETTER TELEGRAMS.
The. Postmaster-General announce dial a class of telegram was introduced on the Ist hist. The rate fixed for such telegrams is one shilling and sixpence for the (irst thirty-six words or fraction thereof, and halfpenny lor each word in excess of that number. A led ter telegram will lie accepted for transmission between any two telegraph offices in the Dominion, but will be subject to a number of restrictions not imposed on ordinary telegrams. The chief'restrictions are: —(i) The message must be lodged at least one hour before the time of (dosing the office of origin or destination, whichever is the earlier; (2) the text must be written in plain English language; (3) upon arrival at the office of destination it will be he’d until (dosing time, and then .treated as a letter being delivered by. the hist (tostman’s delivery next morning. Those addressed to private boxes will be placed therein when (ho first morning elearanee of posting boxes is made, in no circumstances will,a night letter telegram be delivered on the day of lodgment.
