HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT.
The High Coiumssioner’s cable, eluted 30th ultimo, reads: — The hemp market is very quiet, largely due to the coal strike. In Manila hemp small business is recorded at lower prices. J grade, shipment July, August or September, sold at £66; shipment November, December, January £65, Sellers’ present quotations are, spot £67, shipments July, August or October, £65 10s; shipments September, October or November, and in October, November, December, £65. New "Zealand hemp is neglected. Quotations are nominal owing to the absence of business. Spot high point £56, and fair £54 10s; October, November, December shipments £55 and £53 respectively.
