BODY FOUND.
WASHED UP BY THE SEA
On Saturday at mid-day the Levin police received a telephone'message from the coast, that the body of a man had been washed up by the sea at a point about four miles south of the Manawatu river, A constable was dispatched, and brought the body into Levin, where an inquest is being held. So far the remains have not been identified. The body is that of an old man of about 70 years, with very few teeth, and grey hair and board, and of about sft. Sin. in stature, and weighing about 8 stone 8 lbs. Deceased was attired in a grey shirt and red flannels, and had a cloth bandage round the jvaist fastened with a safety pin. Odd socks, one of a light colour and the other dark, were found on the body.
By the condition of . the body it is understood that the remains were in the water for about a week.
A telegram from Levin stptesrthat the description- of the man found tallies with that of Eber Watkins, who has been missing from Patea since October 21st.
