ACCUSED SENT'TO GAOL. ,

Following the sensational arrest a week ago of two railway guards, Charles Alexander Travis and John George Murray, from whose houses express loads of allegedly .stolen goods were removed after a search, a scries of charges was brought ngaiust each of the men to-day, before Mr Mosley, B.M. Travis was charged with the theft from the Railway Department of a parcel of hoots, a quantity of camisoles, four overcoats, a box of raisins, a parcel of sweaters, a sack of stigpr, a box of tea, two tennis rackets, and boxes of paints of the total value of £lB 12s. Murray was charged with the theft of a box of disinfectant, a quantity of drapery and clothing samples, ladies’ clothing, a box of tea, a roll of win’ceyette, two bags of sugar, and a box of condensed milk, of the total value of £9O 12s. They were charged conjointly with the theft, of a box of butter, men's clothing, a roll of (weed, a piece of llannel, two pounds of wool, nine tins of biscuits, and a quantity of clolliing, of a total value of £3O 17s, The dale.-; of to alleged Hi efts ranged hack over the last twelve months.
Accused pleaded guilty so as to be dealt with summarily with ail the ehargccs, except .Murray, who pleaded not guilty to Ihe theft of the disinfectant.' Accused were sentenced to twelve months’ hard labour each on the single charges, and to varying terms on the other charges, the .sentences to run concurrently.
