THE LONDON MARKET,
The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated 16!h instant, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London: — Meat. —English- is in moderate supply; average prices are: Beef Is 4d, mutton Is 9d, lamb 2s per lb., hut best finality Scotch mutton averaged Is lid, and lamb 2s Id per lb. New Zealand mutton and hi mb is in good demand at maximum prices. Butter. —Average price English is £23 12s per cwt. Very limited supply of Irish, and fpiotations range up to £25 5s per cwt. (Equal to for .English Is 2MI, ami for Irish Is (id per lb.) Cheese. —Business in English is dull up to £0 6s per cwt. Very dull up to £9 (is per cwt. (Is 8d per lb). Spot price for Canadian while is £7 18s to £8 2s (Is 5d to C 5.1 (I per lb.), and for coloured £8 2s to £8 (is per cwt. (Is 5-Id to Is syd per lb,): c.i.f. price £7 Ills to £8 Is per cwt (Is 5d to Is 51 d per lb.).
Wool. —Bradford market continues dull and depressed owin<r to the absence of new business, and no indication of improvement. Tops tor immediate delivery quoted nominally at sixty-fours 6s (id, fifty-sixes 4s lOd, forties Is lid per lb. At Hull Government public sales ibis week 0,1)00 bales of colonial wool were offered, and less limn 2,000 were sold.
