SOME PERTINENT QUESTIONS.
A writer in a contemporary asks: — “What is the difference (in principle) between a miner who stands at a face of coal holding a pick and by going slow only produces perhaps half of (ho output of which he is capable, and a farmer who stands at the gate of a farm of, say. 200 acres of Kairanga land, holding the fee simple and by going slow, running sheep perhaps, and driving inlo town three or four times a week in his car, produces uo move than could he taken off 50 acres by intense cultivation - .’ Also the (Inference between a whyrtic who refuses to unload some essential commodity, (herein - hoping to force the other fellow to cede a point advantageous to himself, and the house speculator who will not lot and will only sell at a fancy figure, knowing that dire need will force some poor unfortunate to come to his terms? Also, why the community should he asked to condone the action of a man who buys a farm one week and sells it the next at an advance of some thousands airy more than the action of a man who rides jjj a lirst-elnss carriage witli a second ticket ?”
