COULDN’T POSTPONE THE HONEYMOON.
A housemaid who had been a long time in her situation recently gave notice because site was going to have “the banns pul up.” Her month had almost elapsed when the girl who was engaged to lake her place wrote to say that she would he nimble lo commence her duties until a fortnight after the dale her predecessor had arranged to he married. The amid was asked by her mistress whether she would agree lo postpone the ceremony, and slay on the length of time. "Change the date, change your late, ma'am!" answered the girl. “It's like Hying in the face of Providence to alter wedding arrangements, hut if ’Krhcrl is agreeable. ! don't mind gelling married and then coming hack for a fortnight. ’ The young man offered no objection, and half an hour after the ceremony the bride was busy at her usual duties.
“And has your husband gone back to work - , too, Mary2” asked the mis-
tress. “Oh, no, ma’am!" answered Alary,
proudly. “Erberl’s gone to ’Asliues for ’is ’oneymoon.”
