BAY OF PLENTY SEAT.
- AIR. E. LYSNAR OPENS THE CAMPAIGN. Gisborne, Wednesday. Mr E. J. Lysuar, candidate for the Bay of Plenty seat, addressed the' electors at Te Karaka last evening. He complained that insulHeient time had been given candidates to traverse the extensive district. He urged the early completion of the East Coast Alain Trunk railway, the cutting up of big estates, and closer sol (lenient. He claimed that the Reform Leader bad not done his duty in connection with the district; practically nothing bad been done in the direction of Native land settlement. The coal mines of New Zealand should be valued, Governmeal provide the money to buy them, and men should work lit them on the co-operative system—-Ilien there would be no difficulty about coal. He was a Progressive, and would support the greatest good for (be greatest number, without being bound to vole any way. He looked to the formation of a new National Party. Young New Zealand blood was wanted in Parliament. A unanimous vote of thanks and conlidenee was carried.
