MOASCAR CUP COMPETITION.

SEMI- FINAL WON BY PALMERSTON HIGH SCHOOL.

The semi-final match to decide the North Island High School championship took place at the Palmerston Show Grounds on Saturday, between the Auckland Grammar School and Palmerston High School. There was a record attendance of upwards of 10,000, including - a large number from the Auckland province, if anything, the High School were a little heavier than Grammar. Pour 20-minule spells were played, and the weather conditions were ideal. The game resulted in a win for High School by five points (a try secured by Riggs and converted by Hodder) to nil. The local boys lime and again smothered the clever and nippy Grammar backs from gelling into operation. It was a ding-dong go from start to finish. There were a few mistakes, but on the whole it was a splendid exhibition of good football. There is no doubt the best team Avon. Mr L. Simpson, of Napier, gave the greatest satisfaction as referee. The Palmerston High School meet the South Island champions, Christchurch Boys' High School, at .Wellington to-day, in the final. Wellington B. reps, defeated Wairarapa, at Wellington on Saturday, by 38 points to 11. Wellington defeated Canterbury, at Christchurch, by 1(> to 13. At Dunedin, Otago defeated South Canterbury by 28 to 12. In accepting Now Zealand’s invitation, subject to the English Union hiAvs interpretations being the first conditions, the South .African Rugby Board have decided to send twenty-nine players and a manager, who will leave Ihe last week in April or the first week in May. They have agreed to accept five matches in Australia, three on the outward journey, and two on the return, so arranged as to allow at leas! two days’ interval. A match, described by the Horowbenna Chronicle as the final for the Third-grade Cup, was played at Levin on Saturday between Jln i Mai (Manakau) and Rovers (Levin). The result was a win for Rovers by three points, an unconverted try, to nil.
