INVESTIGATION OF PRICES.
TRIBUNA ITS DELIBERATIONS IN PALMERSTON NORTH. The tribunal set up by the Board of Trade to inquire into prices and hear complaints on that score completed its sitting in Palmei'slon N. yesterday. The chairman (Mr C. Ai. Lake) made Ihe following stalemen 1 : “We have investigated several complaints touching mainly upon food and clothing and proprietary medicines, and have inquired generally into the cost of living. One or two matters of adjustment have been made that do not warrant prosecutions, and one or two other matters have been held over, and will be linally dealt with when we return lo Wellington. “We. find Hint the cost of clothing, boots and shoes is, as in most other (owns, reaching a rather high liguro." The tribunal sits in Feilding today. and in Marion the day following. The chairman added that he hoped the eonlideiilial manner’ in which complaints were dealt with would induce people to come forward.
