WANGANUI EDUCATION BOARD.

THF XFAV CHAIRMAN

At the lirsl meeting of the newly constituted Wanganui Education Board on Wednesday afternoon, Mi* W. Bruce nominated Mr A. A. Collins for the position of chairman, and this was seconded by Mr A. Eraser.

Mr 11. Mclntyre, who supported lie motion, stated that Mr Collins md proved himself to bo a valuable member of the Board, and he felt zonlidanl he would make ,a good hair man.

Mr Johlin then nominated Mr Fraser, and slated that the latter had been on the Board from 10 to 18 years, and with Ids intimate knowledge of Board matters, and having been aeling-ehainnan, would 1111 (he position with credit. Mr Hemingway slated that, he understood Mr Fraser was not seeking election.

Mr Johlin’s motion did not (hul a seconder, and Mr Collins was then elected.

Mr Bruce congratulated Mr Coldins on bis election, and expressed pleasure at the amount of work he had done for the Board. Mr Bruce’s remarks were supplemented by Mr P. C. Ereetli.

Mr Collins thanked the members of the Boarjil for electing him, and slated that as Mr Eraser had servso many years he would have preferred to see him in the chair. However, he would promise members that they would get a fair run from him, and in return he was sure he would always have their assistance. He regretted very much that Mr Pirani had retired, and also Mr Bryant. He then accorded a welcome to the new members, Messrs iMahon and Laws. —Wanganui Chronicle.
