The prosecution alleged that accused had violently attacked Altmro with a spade, and injured him. Por the defence .Mr Cooper contended that there had been extreme provocation, hut, not wifhstandiny this, the act was committed in self-de-fence. Two of the bicycle thefts were alloyed to have taken place in Palmerston, and two in Peildiny. The overcoat was alloyed lo have been stolen in Palmerston Xorlh.
