The dispute between the Borough Council and the local Borough Baud was advanced a further stop at Monday night's Council meeting. It will he remembered that some few months ago the Council notified the Band that as the conditions under which the Council granted a subsidy to the Band were not being carried out by the Band, the subsidy was to lie diseontimied, but that the Council was agreeable to enter into an arrangement with the Band on the basis of; “payment for sendees received,” one of the conditions of the new arrangement to be that tyspeeilied number of performances were to he given each month, and if any of these were not given a proportionate reduction was lo be made in the subsidy. However, m> satisfactory arrangement to both parties could be arrived at, and mutters drifted. The Baud two months ago applied to the Council for the payment of .07 lOs Od, one (jUarle.r’s subsidy, claiming that their agreement wiih the Council was on a quarterly, basis, and Dial they were entitled lo a quarter's notice of Die termination of such agreement.
