LYRIC COSTUME COMEDY COY.
TOP-NOTCH ENTERTAINERS
TOWN HALL, TO-MORROW
Much interest is centred in the coming of the Lyric Quartette and Costume Comedy Company, the well-known artists, who will appear at the Town Hall to-morrow night. Advance accounts acclaim them as real top-notchers in the realm of entertainment, both as soloists and concertedlv.
An outstanding feature of their programme will be the harmonising section, Messrs Arthur Ripley and Herbert Richards (tenors), J. W. Ryan (bass), and Alan McElwain, having a reputation second to none for their skilful artistry in partsinging. In fact, it is authoritatively stated that no orchestra is belter balanced than these four voices. And the songs they choose, too, cannot fail to make a popular appeal ranging as they do from simple homely ditties to tuneful ballads and delicate chansons. Each one understands the knack of getting the right emphasis out of line and word, and this also applied fto the solo work. Air McElwain is responsible for the humorous vein interspersed through the entertainment, and he could give points to mfmy a visiting star with his natural comedy beut and facility in scoring ready laughs. Attractive aid will also he lent by Miss Jessie Bartlett (contralto), Miss Evelyn Harvey (pianist), and Miss Bettiua Edwards (solo denseuse). We can confidently recommend this compact little company to music lovers.
