CEMENT SHORTAGE.

The acute shortage of cement in New Zealand has been engaging the attention of the Board of Trade, and to-night the Minister of Industries and Commerce (Hon. Lee) slated that as a means of temporarily easing the present position the Government had given its approval to the recommendation of (he Board for the remission of duty on imported cement up to 5,000 tons upon .the following conditions: (a) to claim remission of duty on cement imported, each person shall he required to apply to the Board of Trade for a license; (b) all licenses so issued shall supply to the Board of Trade a complete schedule showing the distribution of each shipment received, and shall also disclose to the Board of Trade the price at which the cement was purchased, and shall agree to sell the cement in New Zealand at a price to he agreed upon between importers and the Board of Trade,
