This product ion is c redited Avith being the most amusing and successful comedy produced in London for the past twenty years, ft is not only an amusing play, but there is a cleverness about the plot that has ensured its unrivalled popularity. The chief character is Clugston, a self-made,' ignorant man, who has risen to the middleclass of provincial; North of England. Clugston harbours political ambitions, and is anxious to impress everyone Avith the ultra-rcspectabi-lity of Ids family. The members of his household, including his chauffeur, however, each manage to create a scandal, and most laughable situations arise. The climax is provided hy a revelation that completely crushes the unhappy Clugston. The dialogue is particularly smart, and there is not a dull moment from the curtain-rise to the end. The Allan "Wilkie Special Comedy Company is credited Avith giving an uncommonly capable interpretation of the piece.
