Stir. —1 have recently paid lor a piece of work the same price (hat I paid some ten years ago. Surely this is an occasion to make the profiteers weep and the poets sing. Ihc office lyre has been at work and produced the following. I’m told it goes to the tunc of “Sally Horner,” but 1 don’t believe it: —

I have travelled far neath sun and star, And spilt same blood. I have chased the Hun, and dodged his gun, . Through seas of mud. Yet, whatever town I’ve ever Bought things in They have seen me, and then cleaned me \)ut of “tin.”

And I wonder, a.s I ponder While the prices rise, Cost of living always giving Grounds for dark surmise, Should P. Fraser ever raise a Scheme to bring, them hack, Then we’d make a new dictator, And give Bill “the sack."

Pre-war prices seem a faded dream, Like extra cash. Golden “'jimmies” for kids’ chemise Make me whisper “Dash!” But I’ve lately—yes, quite lately— Had a great surprise, For a tryer fixed my tyre At the pre-war price!

Do not drown him, let us crown him With a wreath of bays; Make the Mayor make him stay’erc All his days.. If the profiteer should only hear . He was outside, They would bind him, and you’d find him Put in Sunnyside. —Yours, etc., ROBINSON CRUSOE.
