LONDON MARKETS

The Department: of Agriculture lias received the following cablegram, dated 17th instant, from the High Commissioner for 'Ncav Zealand, London: —

y Meat. —No change in price for imported meal. Owing to English supplies decreasing, prices have advanced, beef Is sd,tmutton Is old, lapib Is 9d. Butter. —Average price English butter is £l6 19s; small supplies of Irish coming forward, creamery £l6, £l7.

Cheese. —Demand for English is limited at £8 12s, £9 2s. Demand for Canadian is moderate, but prices have slightly declined; spot £7 IBs, £8 2s, c.i.f. # £7 12s, £7 11s.

'Wool sales have closed. Largo attendance of Home and Continental buyers. Lair demand for good combing merinos. Fine a.nd medium crossbreds at an advance of 5 per cent, coarse neglected and largely withdrawn. Average current value New Zealand crossbreds; —Fine- 2s Od to 3s 4d; medium, Is Ibd to 2s 2d; coarse, Is 4d to Is 3d. nominal. Messrs Levin and Co., Ltd., have received the following cable from London, dated 19th July, 1920: — “As compared •with the opening sales, the July closing sales show good Merinos lid per lb, lower, medium and inferior Merinos 2d per lb. cheaper,' superior crosslkedfc 2d per lb. dearer, fine crossbreds and medium crossbreds declined 2d per lb., coarse crossbills neglected.”
