'The programme screened last night will he repealed to-night. “To have and to hold, for better or worse’’—is a very line thing in theory, hut the tale’of the divorce courts goes to show that human nature imposes further tests upon the bonds of matrimony. ‘ The Vkiman is hard to capture, but the man is hard to hold afterwards. 4’his is the key to the dramatic story which is unfolded in the new AVorld Jilm production, “The Love befender,” starring three notable people in the cast adorable June Elvidge, bewitching little Madge Evans, and Frank Mayo, one of the public’s favourite leading men. In “The Love Defender,” June Elvidge takes the role of a young wife who sees her husband in clanger of being led astray by the lure of a former charmer, and all the womanly feeling within her rises in defence of her love. The fight is almost too much for her, but in the end she wins out, and her husband returns to her arms. It is, a fine theme, fiuel| developed, and the role suits the popular star to perfection. Don’t miss ibis picture at the Royal to-morrow night.
