Bird) Bros., linkers, Palmerston North, were charged under I lie Sale of; Pood and Drugs Act with selling underweight loaves of bread, at the Palmerston S.M. Court yesterday. Some loaves being at the back, received more cooking Ilian others, which made them slightly lighter, hut from the eustouter's, point of view it was heller to have the bread will eooked, ’even it it were slightly lighter. As indicating that shortweight loaves were a rare occurrence with this lirm, counsel pointed on! that all the other shops he had named, and where the inspector had admitted finding the bread at correct weight, wore supplied by Birch Bros. Defendants were convicted and fined £5 and costs t)s.
