BEAUTIFYING SOCIETY.

A meeting of the local Beautifying Society was held in Hie Council Chamhcr yesterday afternoon. Mr Perronu presided over a good attendance. In discussing the method of co-operating Avith the Borough Council, the Mayor said the Act provided for the Society’s representation on the Council’s Reserves Committee. He suggested that the Society elect three of its members to act in conjunction with the Reserves Committee. In carrying out improvements lo Hie reserves Hie question of finance had to lie considered bv the Council. The Council could not expend money out of the general fund for this purpose, and a I’present the Reserves account avos ovevdraAvn. The front entrance and gates to Easton Park would shortly he completed. Mr Black’s scheme for (he lay-out of Easton Park had been received, ami Avas exhibited. The Council would -appreciate the Society's co-operation, but any Avork suggested Avould have to be sanctioned bv Hie Council.
