MAY WORKING. The amount of gas manufactured during the month of May was 557,500 ft,, which, with—tlie amount in the holder on May Ist, 15,000 ft., made a> total of 572,500 ft. The amount iAI to consumers for lighting was 11)0,800 ft., for cooking and heating 198,900 ft., and for power 75,900 ft.; 10,400 ft. was used in the street lamps, 25,000 ft. at the works and manager’s house, and there was 15,800 ft. in the holder on dune Ist, leaving 50,500 ft., representing just under nine per cent, of the output, unaccounted for. Fifty-two tons of coal was carbonised, yielding 10,720 ft. per ton.
The earning's for the month totalled 1272 10s lOd, being made up of gas sales (lighting) £ll2 13s Id, (heat and power) £127 17s (id, coke sales £ll 17s 9d, tar sales £3 Os (id, and lit ting account £l7 2s Od. The expenditure was as follows: Coal £llO 12s Od, salaries, wages, and labour £9B 14s Id, services £2 18s lOd, fittings £4O 5s 4d, tools 11s (id, plant £4 16s 4d, insurance £3 8s Id, working expenses 2s (id, printing and advertising £lB 0s (id, repairs £lO Kis 2d, freight, wharfage, and cartage £2 19s 7d, interest and sinking fund £59 lls Bd, total £358 16s 7d.
